ABS filament for your 3D printer in the 3D PRIMA online shop

Buy cheap filaments made of ABS (Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)

ABS is one of the most popular and wanted filaments for 3D printing. The synthetic polymer acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS for short) is produced from the individual monomers acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. ABS is not only one of the most common materials used in 3D printing, but also in general one of the most widely used plastics worldwide. ABS melts at temperatures of 220 to 250 ° C and can be brought into liquid by injection molding or extruder - or just by 3D printers. With proper separation, ABS can be melted again without prior recycling.

3D printer material: ABS filament offers many unique advantages

ABS filament has many advantages. Some impressive figures are an elongation at break according to DIN 53455 of 15 to 30 percent. The continuous use temperature is 85 to 100 degrees Celsius. In addition, ABS filaments are resistant to oils and greases as well as to extreme weathering, age and temperature conditions. Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is mainly used for producing consumer and household products. In particular, the electrical and automotive industries dominate, accounting for more than 50 percent of ABS production in Europe. Also, a lot of toys are made of ABS. The most well-known examples are Lego bricks. Recycling: In order to recycle the ABS filaments so-called mechanical processes are being used. These can separate a common waste mix to a purity of almost 100 percent.

Ideal 3D printer filament: ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)

ABS is a flammable plastic that emits dark, smelly smoke in a fire. This smoke should not be inhaled. The most outstanding properties of ABS as a filament are its toughness, stiffness and strength. Some cuts, on the other hand, have to be made in terms of both weathering resistance and UV resistance. How relative such statements are, however, shows that ABS is still significantly more weather-resistant than the even more popular filament PLA. Although ABS can be a small diva during printing, when the object is finished and coming out of the 3D printer, the ABS filament is a thankful post-processing material. Painting, sanding, drilling and sawing - no problem!
