HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) is, as the name suggests, a very impact-resistant and strong material. Many people use HIPS instead of ABS as it does not shrink as much and is therefore easier to print with. HIPS is easy to finish by sanding and painting and is therefore popular with model makers and architects.
